Straight from Barcelona to Paris, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge Hit the Runway

The fashion world got a touch of tech on March 7 when Samsung Electronics hosted its first “Tasting Night with Galaxy” event during Paris Fashion Week to celebrate the launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

Following the global launch of the new Galaxy smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung hopped over to the fashion capital of the world to introduce the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge to the fashion industry.

A lot of the guests arrived at the Four Seasons Hotel in Paris on Saturday evening to discover “What’s Next” in smartphones, virtual reality and accessories. After fashion icons Comme des Garçons and Acne Studios finished their runway premieres in the neighborhood, guests made their way to the hotel to attend Samsung’s own runway-inspired premier at a completely redesigned dining hall.

As each attendee came in, they were greeted by crystal-clear chairs set along two long white dining tables inspired by the Galaxy S6. The immaculate white room set the tone for what was next to come: a gorgeous hands-on presentation of how Samsung’s new Galaxy smartphones combine design, innovation and superior technology to achieve a flawless user experience.

The space served as an inspiration to the sophistication of architectural fluidity and luxury designs and colors of the new phones.

International influencers like Hollywood actor Jared Leto, model Gigi Hadid, model Lily Donaldson, model Doutzen Kroes (the face of Samsung Netherlands), model Jessica Stam, stylist and blogger Susie Lau, Editor-in-Chief of CR Book Carine Roitfeld and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut were joined by top-tier fashion and lifestyle media outlets for two courses — the regular Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge.

As they settled in, rows of models entered the room carrying glowing half-cut glass jars bearing metal used to make the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. Puffs of white smoke billowed out of the jars when they were opened, and guests were able to see the sleek new texture that made up the new phones.

With the smartphones’ blend of metal and glass, Samsung’s refined approach delivers a totally new mobile experience that is not only inspired by fashion, but allows the devices to truly act as their own fashion accessories. The advanced camera functions make sure you never miss a fashion moment, instantly capturing beautiful and bright photos.

Plus, with the new sleek texture, you can make sure that you’re shooting stylishly while on the go. And if you happen to want to take a selfie of yourself at the front row of a fashion show, you can rest assure the 5-megapixel camera will capture a short worthy of Instagram fame.

The new look represents how Samsung started from scratch to create a premium device that redefines the user experience.

In fact, every vital aspect of the design — from the material to the shape to the user experience — was reimagined from an entirely new perspective that focused on premium design aesthetics as well as usability and function.

Host Younghee Lee, the executive vice president of Samsung Electronics’ global marketing, Hyunyeul Lee, the vice president of Samsung Electronics’ UX Innovation team, and co-host Brad Goreski, a fashion personality and stylist, took turns welcoming the crowd of attendees and introducing the design concept of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

To couple the premium design of the smartphones, models then brought out wireless chargers and smartphone covers while also introducing the Galaxy S6 edge. Attendees to the Paris event had the opportunity to pick their favorite covers and choose a dessert that went with it.

The new accessories represent Samsung’s extensive collaborations with fashion designers and brands that share the company’s goal of seamlessly unifying the worlds of fashion and technology, thereby creating products that enable people to express their own unique style.

Now more than ever, the worlds of fashion and technology are inextricably intertwined. Samsung believes the two naturally go hand in hand: technology wouldn’t get its creative streak without fashion and fashion wouldn’t exist without technology. Therefore Samsung is encouraging their friends and partners in the fashion industry to come up with their own thoughts on technology and express their opinions on fashion-forward devices like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

The new phones come with exciting stylish covers, including the clear-view cover, clear cover, protective cover, flip wallet and S-view cover. The wireless charger and external battery packs also complement the sleek, fashion-forward design of the phones.

At launch, the accessory collection will include Kate Spade, Burton, Swarovski, Montblanc, Rebecca Minkoff and Romero Brittsgko, and additional collaborations will debut in the future as Samsung continues to pursue innovative and meaningful partnerships with various designers and fashion brands.

After attendees got to try out the covers and the phones, they were treated with a runway show featuring model Jessica Stam and music by DJ Misshapes (Leigh Lezark & Geordon Nicol).

The event was hosted as a part of Samsung’s “Forces of Fashion” project, a yearlong campaign that creates an authentic and seamless opportunity for Samsung to continue the conversation in the fashion industry, deliver fashion-related messages regarding new products and collaborations and continue positioning Samsung as an innovator in the tech-cross-fashion space.
