Samsung Electronics will leverage its innovative technology to enable football fans to share their passion during the Orange Africa Cup of Nations Gabon-Equatorial Guinea 2012 to be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea from 21st January to 12th February 2012. Samsung, an official sponsor of the competition, will engage fans inside and outside the stadiums, as well as aspiring football players in Africa, under the campaign theme ‘Show your spirit with Samsung’.

“Our sponsorship of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations Gabon-Equatorial Guinea 2012 is about bringing the spirit of the game to our consumers. We are proud of its legacy for football sponsorship in Africa and will keep on enriching our consumers’ passion for football with Samsung.”

In Gabon, ‘Samsung Football Fest’ will provide entertainment and match public viewing for fans during the matches at the Stade Annexe du Complex Omnisport President Bongo in Libreville where the final match will be held. Its program will feature live match viewing with a large screen, entertainment by local celebrities, give-aways, product exhibitions, and an inflatable mini-football game to enhance the fan experience.

“Driven by Samsung’s latest technology, this is a comprehensive programme which can interact with those who love the football game. Samsung is going to take an active part in the excitement of Orange Africa Cup of Nations Gabon-Equatorial Guinea 2012, and we intend to increase the fans’ enjoyment throughout the competition.” Mr. Sunny Hwang.

For fans in the stadiums at the matches, Samsung will provide giveaways including t-shirts to create enjoyable cheering atmosphere in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea and Libreville, Gabon.

Samsung also recognizes that not all fans will be able to get to the stadiums. Thus, it is setting up ‘Pop up Stadium’ outside host countries. In large shopping malls in Ghana, Senegal, and Angola, viewing areas with large screens and terraced seating will be set up where fans can enjoy the matches and share experiences.

To reach out to global fans, Samsung will have an online hub at www.getintothespirit.com. The hub will offer multiple features including live match scores, downloads, highlights of the day, a fan gallery, and competitions. There will also be a mobile platform for fans using cell phones. It will be a channel for fans to easily interact and share Orange Africa Cup of Nations Gabon-Equatorial Guinea 2012’s atmosphere.

Samsung is presenting a ‘Samsung Fair Play Award’, which will run throughout the competition. Samsung will award for the fairest player of each match and the competition. It will show that Samsung share the fair play spirit along with the fun and enjoyable part of the match. Also, two children from Ghana and Ivory Coast who participated in ‘Samsung-Chelsea FC Youth Football Camp’ will be invited to the match to present the award.
