Design R&D Center reorganized around the world

Samsung Electronics Corporate Design Center is in Seoul, Korea, and other design teams are in London, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Delhi, Tokyo, and Milan. These talented multinational teams are important contributors to the total design solutions of some of our most advanced products, satisfying both the aesthetic and functional needs of today’s marketplace. This international network of design centers is strategically important in developing products for both local and global markets. Being local, each design center is well positioned to understand and analyze local cultures, living patterns, lifestyles, and trends, letting the best ideas from around the world cross-pollinate.

Samsung Electronics began manufacturing 256M SDRAM

Samsung Electronics begins manufacturing 256M SDRAM using 300mm Wafer 0.15micron technology. The groundbreaking application of 90nano process enabled Samsung to achieve the cell size of less than 0.1micron. When you compare 300mm line with previous 200mm line, productivity has been increased up to 2.5 times so that it can reduce the price.

Suwon Information and Communications R&D Center established

Samsung Electronics opened Information and Communications R&D Center in December 2001 at Suwon, Korea. For this R&D center, Samsung Electronics brought all the engineers and developers to integrate technologies from semiconductor, multimedia and telecommunications. At the R&D center, DMB phone, Wibro, two-way     communication TV and more are developed. They focused on advanced technology such as Wibro system, Telematics and 3.5 and 4th generation technology.
