At this moment, while you are reading this sentence, there are probably thousands of photos being taken around the world. One of the most intriguing parts of a photograph is that it is impossible for two different people to simultaneously take an identical photo; unless it is reproduced, every photo taken is unique (as cliché as it sounds). This makes even more sense when we think about all the details, techniques and emotion that go into capturing a 3D world in a 2D format, which often distinguish a simply good photograph from a great one.

Getty Images, Inc. is one of the world’s leading stock photo agencies with an archive of 80 million still images and illustrations. Samsung asked three professional Getty photographers, Gareth Cattermole, Ian Gavan and Julian Finney, to share their expertise and experiences on what makes a great photograph and the 4G Samsung Galaxy NX they use.

It boils down to “can you get good a photo out of nothing”

Ian Gavan is a photographer for the entertainment division of Getty Images. He emphasizes that great photography is not about shooting in a glamorous location or big event, but being at the places where the story is happening. However, he says the real test of a great photographer is when he/she is faced with getting a good photo out of a mundane situation. Check out how the sensors of the Galaxy NX can help.

What you need to do you is  stand out amongst that crowd

Gareth Cattermole is a fashion and entertainment photographer for Getty Images who has 14 years under his belt. He says that a great photograph is all about passion and connecting with people. Shooting things that you are interested in or passionate about and creating a unique look that no one else has makes you stand out in the world where anyone has the ability to take a photograph. He also talks about utilizing technology and social media with the 4G Galaxy NX.

If it is not sharp enough, I chuck it in the bin.

Julian Finney is an award-winning Getty Images sports photographer. He points out that photography is about telling a story, because that is what draws people into his photography. Technically, while talking about the Galaxy NX Camera’s depth and sharpness being key factors, a good picture would consist of good color, nice clean backgrounds and an athlete that makes nice shapes. He says that the best pictures don’t always necessarily come from athletes, but can come from the crowds behind them or the manager on the side jumping and screaming out of exhilaration.
