Every year, The Prince’s Trust holds 11 regional events and 1 grand final national event to recognise inspirational young people from across the UK who have made positive changes in their lives advancing into education, training and or employment. Many of these young people have had to struggle with lack of confidence, depression, violence and sometimes even drugs and alcohol abuse. Samsung UK has been the headline sponsor of these awards for 2 years running.

The ceremony, featured 7 category of awards recognising young people’s success in the areas of education, skills development, employment, enterprise and community support.

The finale was marked by the winner of the main ‘Samsung Young Achiever of the Year’ award, Carly Williams.

Carly battled a difficult childhood without parents since 5 years old and spent her teenage years isolated and suffering from depression and alcoholism. Through The Prince’s Trust’s Team Programme, she has recovered her confidence and is now pursuing a university degree. She is taking on a degree in Social Work with the determination to help others who are going through the same difficulties: a true inspiration for all.

The President and founder of The Prince’s Trust HRH Prince of Wales, who said, closed the ceremony,

All our donors and sponsors make the difference, because we couldn’t do it without them.”
