MWC2014

A day before MWC 2014 kicked off, Samsung announced that it was going to introduce the new series of Gear at the event. The New Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo was successfully introduced to the world at the Samsung Unpacked 2014. This, as you know, was just a few hours ago. Therefore, we understand that there are probably a lot of people who want to take a closer look at the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. So, here you have it.

Before we get into the details, let’s quickly go over the main difference between the two. The main difference between the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo is the camera – the Samsung Gear 2 has a 2 Megapixel Auto-focus camera, and Neo doesn’t. Both of the Gear2 and Gear2 Neo will come out in Charcoal Black and Wild Orange, however, Gold Brown will only be available for the Gear 2 and Mocha Grey will only be available for the Gear Neo for now.

So now, to the some of the details…

Gear2 and Gear2 Neo are the first wearable devices that run on Tizen-based wearable platform. Samsung Gear2 and Gear2 Neo are already compatible with more than dozens of Samsung Galaxy smartphones… at launch!

Besides the camera, dimensions and the weight, most of the key specifications of the Samsung Gear2 lineup are identical. 1.63” Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 320 pixels by 320 pixels. It has a 1 Gigahertz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM and 4 Gigabytes of internal memory which enables the Gear 2 to run its own apps –CNN, Evernote, PayPal, RUNTASTIC and the standalone MP3 player, for example. You can also store music on your Samsung Gear2 and play it right to your Bluetooth headset without your smartphone!

It features an embedded IrLED sensor which lets you control electronic products like your TV through WatchON Remote application. It also has an Accelerometer, Gyroscope and a HEART RATE MONITOR – so many applications on health and well-being apps. Obviously, just like the Galaxy Gear, the Samsung Gear2 lets you take or ignore calls, check and reply to messages and more.

The main difference from this and the Galaxy Gear is that the camera is on the main body instead of the strap. This means that you can interchange the straps. If you like to know about the strap of Gear 2 lineup, check out our other article on it.

That was it for the quick rundown of the new Gear2 and Gear2 Neo. We will have a lot more news on the products that are being showcased at the MWC 2014, so please come back to Samsung Tomorrow to get the latest Samsung exclusives.
