Is Fernando Torres one of your favourite players at the English Premier League club Chelsea FC, last year’s European champions? It’s probably safe to say that you’ve never had the chance to meet him, much less talked football with him or watched him play. It’s also safe to say that this is every fans dream.
But it can be more than just a dream. The Dream the Blues campaign, an expansion of the Samsung-Chelsea FC Youth Football Camp program, can make for an once-in-a-lifetime football experience for some lucky youths. Through this campaign, Samsung hopes to encourage football-loving youths to achieve their dreams – your son or daughter could meet his or her football heroes in London this May. Your child could have the once-in-a-life-time chance to meet Chelsea FC players and learn football skills from Chelsea Foundation coaches.
What brought Torres, Mata, Moses and Oscar together on the same pitch?
Torres, one of the world’s deadliest strikers; Mata, Spanish maestro; Moses, Nigerian national with pace and power; and Oscar, the future of Brazilian football recently gathered on a training field in London. The meeting was not a top secret training session for Chelsea FC. In fact, it was to film a main video for the Dream the Blues campaign.
These four players were named the Dream the Blues campaign ambassadors for children around the world who dream of the Blues. The players will meet with16 children from 8 countries spanning 4 continents during the final camp in London this May.
Each player’s skill is on display in the campaign main video. The action catches the eye even in the short film, when the players come alive in turn from pictures in a young boy’s room – Oscar looking impatient while waiting for a pass and Mata showing embarrassment at having missed a chance.
A video about a football-loving boy’s dream – A story soon to become a reality.
The episode in this campaign video describes the sequence of events in the boy’s dream. The boy dreams of being one of the Blues and playing football with the players in the pictures on his wall. The players show off some tricks as the ball is passed from picture to picture. Finally, the boy joins his heroes. His dream is that of every child who would give anything to be one of the lucky 16 selected in the Dream the Blues campaign.
Wearing a clean bright Chelsea uniform washed in a Samsung washing machine, the boy meets the Chelsea players in the video’s last scene. Just like in the video, the home is where the dream of every child participating in the campaign starts. Your son or daughter too can win a chance to participate in this campaign when you purchase Samsung Electronics Home Appliance products.
Approximately two hundred children from each country will be selected to participate in a Youth Football Camp where they will learn football skills from Chelsea Foundation coaches and then two of the most passionate and impressive children from each of eight countries will be invited to the final camp in London.
