A new take on Fashion and Headphones, Samsung Level at the IYDE 2014

Numbers of fashion-conscious ultra-trendy people were at the 2014 “The Future of Now” International Youth Design Exhibition (2014 IYDE) in Beijing, China. As it kicked off on October 17, something was addressed in the opening ceremony, something the fashion industry has seen in recent years, a change in what people consider as an accessory. And Samsung Level was at the center of attention.

What is IYDE?

IYDE is a cutting-edge fashion event held every October. Sponsored by BIFT (Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology – aka “China’s Parsons”), IYDE showcases vibrant fashions. Over 70 designers from more than 20 countries participated in the exhibition.

At this year’s IYDE, Samsung joined with BIFT and launched the Samsung Level Headphones Mix & Match Opening Ceremony Fashion Show. Four designers from BIFT were selected to showcase their designs at the Opening Ceremony Fashion Show and to compete for the Best Mix & Match Designer award for their creative designs. Total of 12 special outfits, each making three, that mixed and matched with the Samsung Level, were showcased at the opening ceremony of IYDE.

Designers reinterpreted street fashion, spicing up the premium image of Samsung Level with some ‘casual’ for everyday life. This could also be seen as a result the recent trend of fashion industry’s attempt to combine technology, and vice versa for younger generations.

Anyway, as soon as the opening ceremony ended, the winner of the Best Mix & Match Designer award was announced. The award went to Wang Fengchen. He said, “The design style of this collection is a combination of street style and elegance. In my design, I aimed to improve the patterns to deduct on cutting, which is compatible with the concise design of Samsung Level headphone. I believe that a simplistic style that goes along well with technology will be the fashion trend in the future.”

In fact, many K-pop musicians, famous for their fashion, have been using Samsung Level for a while. For example, Big Bang, 2NE1, EXO and other artists have been on stage sporting the Samsung Level.
