Oct. 11 Samsung Mobile Unpacked Postponed

Samsung and Google have decided to postpone the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event during the CTIA in San Diego, previously scheduled for Oct. 11. Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product. We ask for your understanding regarding any inconvenience caused. We will announce a new date and venue in due course.

    No proof of that, just rumors. If it’s true (and very well could be) I believe it’s a mistake. Business is just that. There isn’t and never has been any room for gestures like this. Apple isn’t even delaying their own product in remembrance of Jobs, so why should the competition? And how exactly does it show any kind of respect to delay a product? Respect would be writing an article about how Jobs and Apple shaped your company. A simple product delay doesn’t show anything whatsover. Only comes across as Samsung not having their act together. And with the pent up demand for this generation of dual core phones, Samsung is only losing customers to the company to whom they are “paying respect.” I’m sure Apple appreciates this huge mistake by Samsung.

      I agree. Also, Apple isn’t delaying the lawsuits banning the sales of Samsung products in Europe and Australia. If I was Samsung I’d say screw Apple and get on with it.
      I have the option to get out of my Sprint contract and I was really looking forward to seeing this new phone to see if I would hold out for it. But Amazon is having a penny sale for Verizon that ends on Oct 17th, so I might have to go with the Droid Bionic instead. Samsung is losing a potential customer for dropping the ball on this one. I think the real reason is that Ice Cream Sandwich just wasn’t ready yet.

What marketing genius thought this was a good idea. Take a lesson from Apple… don’t toy with the consumer. These are difficult financial times and the public is less tolerant of marketing shenanigans. Be honest with us, and you’ll retain a loyal following.

just because Steve Jobs has passed away, does not mean that the whole world is gonna stop for this man. We don’t care about Steve Jobs and him dying on his fanboys. We came to CTIA to see this phone and we don’t want to be disappointed like this. So, now do i call this trip, and all this time and money i spent to travel there a waste because YOU are delaying showing it? wtf

As long as the device still comes to Verizon then it’s all good. We have been waiting for a Nexus device since we got screwed out of the N1. While I know for a fact the device is already in Verizons Cellibrite system it would be nice to hear it right out of Samsung and Googles mouths. I understand Steve Jobs death is awful, but the world must go on. If anything throw us a little something here Samsung, at least say YES it’s coming out on X, X, X networks…..

I don’t believe this delay had anything to do with the passing of Steve Jobs. Hopefully it isn’t a serious glitch in the firmware or the OS. Hopefully we will see an updated release date announcement soon…

Cancel the first date is not a problem, was your decision to respect Steve Jobs. Not shedule and let clients know about the new date is not a good strategy in my opinion.
