“The Galaxy Alpha was built and designed based on the specific desires of the consumer market,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics. “With an entirely new appearance, the Galaxy Alpha focuses on both beauty and functionality combining a stunning metal frame and slim, light weight design with the same powerful hardware and features users expect from a flagship Galaxy mobile device.”

Setting a New Standard for Samsung Galaxy Design

Concentrating on elegant aesthetics and compact construction, Samsung has taken a fresh approach to design with the Galaxy Alpha. Created to help consumers express their unique style without sacrificing functionality, the refined Galaxy Alpha features a sophisticated design with a metal frame, elegantly curved corners and a tactile soft back cover. In addition, it is visually balanced, with the perfect contrast of both a calming, soft matte finish and an eye-catching reflection from the metal frame. At less than 7 mm thick, the Galaxy Alpha is also one of the slimmest Galaxy devices ever, and its uniquely compact construction and light weight provides consumers with maximum in-hand grip and control.

Powerful Samsung Galaxy Experience

Despite its slim and light design, the Galaxy Alpha provides users with the same powerful hardware and features users expect from a flagship Galaxy mobile device. The device is equipped with a brilliant 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display as well as an advanced camera and real time HDR for an unrivaled viewing and photo experience. The Galaxy Alpha also includes innovative and popular features such as Ultra-Power Saving Mode, S Health, Finger Print Scanner, Private Mode and connectivity with the latest Samsung Gear Fit, Gear Live and Gear 2 wearables.

Take my money! Omg that phone looks amazing! Finally a truly premium smartphone from you guys! :D

    • gt-01

Don’t get it yet, it’s just a test mule for their future flagships…

  • djmuzi

looks good :-) Let’s hope it doesn’t look like the iPhone 6 :-)

  • John Mark

No MicroSD slot or mention of battery life, otherwise I’d like to get my hands on one…

  • davide

    ip 67?

  • rahlquist

Form factor directly compete with Moto G which my wife adores because the small size fits her hands better. Hopefully the carriers dont cripple it and the camera is worth a crap.

  • I’m not buying this

    Ony (1280 x 720) ?!
    1,860 mAh ?!
    RAM : 2GB ?!

    Nice 1 Samsung :(

    • I’m not buying this

      Gorgot

      NO SD SLOT ?!

      • asd

        Forgot *

    • gt-01

      Yeah, just a mid-spec, watered-down version of the Galaxy S5, which I already have & paid for $747NZD!!! -.-

  • gt-01

Good but a test mule design for their next-gen Galaxy flagships.

Looking forward to seeing it & also the Note 4 next month.

    S6?

  • gt-01

Oh by the way, why no external-Micro-SD card?? What gives Samsung?

  • gt-01

What about IP67 (Water/Dust Resistant seal)?

  • Edge of Surreality

Waste of metal with such reduced screen specs and no SD card. Too many phone/tablet releases in a year…make your flagships right the first time and lengthen your refresh schedule. Its frustrating to invest in a phone or tablet only to have it be obsolete in 2 months or less! Time to revamp Touchwiz/software too instead of focusing on new hardware, fix that!

    • VTht

      Agree! Revamp ‘Lagwiz’ please!!

  • guyr

No sd because they do not want to pay 8$ royalties to microsoft …

  • SMH

Not sure what Samsung is hoping to accomplish with the Alpha by creating a phone which is inferior to the S4 and S5 in order to compete with Apple. Whilst I love my S4, I am highly unlikely to get an Alpha and when it is time to replace my current phone will be more likely to look toward HTC or LG if Alpha is the only phone on offer by Samsung. I’ve always believed that in order to gain market share, you shoul produce the best possible product. Dumbing down the Galaxy in order to be “iPhone-light” is not at all what I would expect from someone who wants to be the market leader and I fail to understand the rationale the suits at Samsung are applying here that will push otherwise loyal and happy users of their product toward other manufacturers. If I had wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one. My hope is that the Galaxy Alpha is geared toward Apple users, and that there is a S6 in the future for those of us who are pleased with what is on offer now but want advances on future models.

    • BryanLWeier

SMH, I agree, THIS should NEVER see thew light of day with the current specs!!!

  • JustAnotherGuy

Except metal body, everything gives a Déjà vu feeling :( !!

  • BryanLWeier

Sorry, I am NOT impressed with this device… only 2 gigs of ram, 12mp cam? Not water/dust resistant? No expandable memory??? 720 screen??? The I-phoney is a pile of crap, why lower the companies standards to that level? This thing seems to be more of a beta than an alpha… sorry Samsung, but this just plain rots… and honestly it’s also like an HTC phone which also sux pond scum… sorry to be so negative, but honestly, this thing is a HUGE step backwards from what Samsung has become!

  • Mike

Samsung is basically copying the industrial-look success of the iPhones 4/5 and just tweaking it and making it larger. And finally no SD-slot…. at least it’s a step in the right direction.

  • Applesuckstoo

Shut up, Its a Phone, Samsung, Apple , Who the F&*# cares? Both sides arguing like a bunch of neanderthal retards about who made fire first. I did! So discussion over!!!
