Samsung lies. It doesn’t work with the Mega. Even called them and was told (after I bought the Gear 2) that they plan to release the update in the next 3-4 months that will allow the device to work with the Mega. So I’m supposed to wait that long to use this new technology that may be obsolete by then?? Samsung failed here.

Haha!!! – I got it working FULLY with my Samsung Mega last night. Simply download the Samsun g Gear Manager apk for the Galaxy S5 (you can find it out there on a google search) and run it on your Mega (after first uninstalling the Gear Manager you currenty have ) and voila! it sees your Gear 2, syncs up with the Gear 2 and will then proceed to set it up fully. NO NEED for a newer Android than the standard 4.22!!!!
      Try it – it WORKS!!!

This can’t be true. “The 5.8 & 6.3 Mega have (4.2.2) Talked with Samsung support. They said “Sorry” Why the advertisement saying it was compatible if it wasn’t?

Do you have any plans to make the Gears compatible with ATIV devices?

  • shm224

I’m hearing that the Gear Fit only works with Android Kitkat. There is no Kitkat released from AT&T.

Samsung has so many smartphones with different variations. I guess support them all is always an after thought?

Gear Fit works with Android 4.3. You need to download the Gear Fit Manager to get it going.

update to 4.4 leak; for 6.3 MEGA (late June 2014) :)
