Hello, everyone! I’m DeuRi Lee from Toronto, Canada.
Spring has finally come in Toronto. On this warm and sunny day, 2012 Green Living Show was held at the Energy Center near the Ontario Lake.
Green Living Show is Canada’s largest green consumer show, where 30,000 visitors came to attend. Over 400 companies participated in this event to show their dedication to the environment and demonstrate their environmental friendly products/services. Also, many celebrities came to present lectures on environment issues. Green Living Show’s goal is to provide consumers with information about how companies and organizations are making the world a greener place.
Did you know that Samsung Electronics Canada has been sponsoring this event for past 5 years? To give you full coverage, I went to the energy center!
With over 400 companies participating in this event there were lots of interesting exhibitions, events and forums. Ticket price for adults were $15.00 (Canada Dollars). But you could also gain free admission by bringing in your e-waste!
You can find e-waste booths at some of the malls in GTA (Great Toronto Area) including York Dale Center. You could get a free admission for Green Living Show and Samsung electronics can collect e-waste for better use and it is good for the environment as well. Everybody wins!
Samsung Electronics Canada has been doing this 2008. Samsung has collected over 700,000kg of e-waste. It’s a lot of e-waste! It was impressive to see Samsung Electronics’ efforts to deal with e-waste properly for environment.
Alright, let’s have a look at the show!
It was a lot bigger than I thought!
The show has over 400 exhibitors and thousands of Green Living Approved products, services and innovations under one roof!
Numerous live presentations by eco-icons and celebrities engaged exhibitors and visitors alike. It was a great chance to meet some of the greenest companies in Canada.
And of course there was a Samsung Electronics booth!
What’s going on here?
Ah! Samsung Electronics Canada presented a new product!
The main product is a Flex Induction Range!
It brings incredible cooking power, energy efficiency and incomparable cooking control right to your kitchen. With Induction technology, you get complete control over the amount of heat being transferred to your pots and pans. With electric elements, the settings are often MAX HEAT or OFF resulting in burnt or undercooked food. When you use an Induction cooktop your cookware is actually being placed within a magnetic field that begins to induce a circulating electrical current. The resistance to this current is what causes the pots and pans to heat up. You’ll also save on energy costs because Induction technology applies heat directly to your food, meaning no energy is lost.
The Divider allows your meals to be versatile so you can cook appetizers and the main at the same time. And if the meal calls for a large roast, turkey or any other sizeable meal, simply remove the Divider and take advantage of the spacious interior capacity.
With the incredibly huge range interior, you never have to hold back the invites to your dinner parties. Thanks to the 1300 W Dual Fan Convection System and Flex Duo™ technology Samsung has created two separate cavities inside your range.
Now do you see why Samsung chose this product as the main product for this show? First, induction technology provides a safer and cleaner way to cook. Also it saves energy and time!
For the event, Samsung invited Massimo Capra, one of the chefs on the show Restaurant Makeover to introduce the product. Chef Massimo actually did some cooking and provided some foods to the guests. A lot of people came to see the product and taste the food.
I had some chicken. It was really really good!
Then I went to interview Chef Massimo.
Q. The food was amazing. What was the big difference between the oven with other ovens?
A. The induction cooking has been used by chefs for years because it has the same precision as cooking with gas. It has been widely used by professional chefs and restaurants for many years, and now thanks to Samsung, home cooks can use this incredible technology to achieve professional quality results in the comfort of their own homes. It has efficient induction technology and flexible oven. Customers will think this is much safer than other ovens. The greatest part is the divider. It allows partial cooking. It will save a lot of time and energy.
There were lots of journalists and media to cover the stories on the oven.
Shhh!
Andrew Barrett(Vice president of Marketing) is having an interview with CNC TV!
I sat quietly until he finished the interview with media.
Once he finished, I ran to him and asked him for an interview.
Q. Why does Samsung Electronics Canada Subsidiary join Green Living Show?
A. There are three big reasons.
First of all, it is about E-waste. Samsung Electronics presents this event in cooperation with Green Living Show to do proper recycling. Samsung will continue this event even after this show. Samsung Canada would like to help Canadians live a greener lifestyle by offering products that are eco-friendly from start to finish. We will help reduce the impact on the environment, and reduce your energy bill. And when you're ready to upgrade your electronics you can now recycle your old devices in a socially and environmentally responsible way with our Recycling Direct program. Samsung has taken the whole process into consideration and we are proud to be able to offer Canadians greener choices.
Secondly, it’s about education. Many kids come here every year. Some of the teachers bring kids here to learn something about environment. The kids can learn about how they can preserve energy and green products/services from industry. Our goal is to provide information about green life through many programs to kids.
Lastly, it is about business. Samsung Electronics Canada has a goal to expand the business throughout Canada with this program. We are trying to demonstrate our products with fun events like the one we threw today. This way, we could show our products more effectively and explain how our products are environmentally friendly.
As much as I enjoyed the event, I wanted to know about what other people think about the event. Therefore, I asked for an interview with Mark Jaworowsk (Field Marketing) to hear some of the opinions from customers.
Q. If you are working in Field Marketing, I guess you hear a lot of feedbacks from customers. What do they think about Samsung?
A. Samsung Electronics has huge impact in Canada. Samsung is known for electronics devices. From TV, computer, washing machine, refrigerator to other home appliances devices, Samsung is popular. Samsung gets good feedbacks from customers.
Q. Can you briefly tell us about their feedbacks in detail? Also can you tell us about any feedbacks from new product?
A. We introduced the new product today so it is hard to hear all feedbacks from customers. However, I’m sure that customers have high expectations for Samsung. Samsung always amazes people with greater innovations. People get bored at ordinary devices. However, people are thrilled about new creative products from Samsung.
I am proud to be part of a creative and environmental friendly company. Also as I watch the show, I realized why Samsung is so loved in Canada.
I learned a lot throughout this show as well. I should practice some of green life habits that I learned today. I will be back with greater news next time!
See you later!
