Storytellers in Innsbruck Part I: The Samsung Mobile Explorers

This is the first of a three part series of the Storyteller’s experiences in the 2012 Innsbruck Youth Olympic Games.  Today MinJi will talk about meeting the Samsung Mobile Explorers!

We went to Youth Olympics Games 2012 in Innsbruck and ran into our European counterparts, the Samsung Mobile Explorers! The Explorers are 20 students from Slovenia, Austria and the UK selected by Samsung to cover the 2012 Youth Olympics.

During the alpine ski game at Patschekofe, we saw the Explorers take pictures, interview the crowd and taking notes… Just like us!  It was like watching European versions of ourselves.

Samsung Mobile Explorers were not only there to cover the games, but also the events, fashion and virtually every aspect of the Innsbruck Olympics.

Alongside the Explorers were a few children and they told us that these children were from low income homes and the Samsung Mobile Explorers brought them to watch the games as well as give them lots of Samsung products!

It was heartwarming to see the children’s faces light up as they received the latest gizmos from Samsung.  Even as they watched the games they held their presents tightly, no doubt thrilled at the prospect of getting to open the boxes once they get home.  The atmosphere grew even more festive as Austria won the gold and silver medals in the Alpine ski event!

After watching the ski race with the kids, the Explorers returned to their hotels and were busy at work writing posts for the blog.

We observed them review their photos and discuss various aspects of writing their articles, like the tone and content.  Watching them work so hard on their material made us feel a bit competitive, making us think we should work harder too.

Interview With Jelena, the Samsung Mobile Explorer

Minji: What lead you to become a Samsung Mobile Explorer?

Jelena Radisavljevic: I thought it would be a great opportunity to meet students from other countries as well as watch the Winter Youth Olympic Games.  I also thought it would be great chance to experience the corporate activities of Samsung electronics.

Minji: How do you feel about having helped these children?

Jelena: I think it was a great way to help out children alienated from society and a valuable experience for everyone involved.

Minji: How do you like your GALAXY S2?

Jelena: It’s the best! It’s the only mobile device that you really need.

Minji: Say a word those students undoubtedly jealous of your Samsung Mobile Explorer activities?

Jelena: Don’t miss any opportunities that may come.  If you hesitate, you will regret it.  Just look at me.  I’m having so much fun! [laugh]
